Word island
Play ‘Word island’. How to play: Make a pretend island (with pillows, blankets, books, anything…or just have an imaginary one!) and then have the words below written out on paper.
Spread the words around the island. In order to get onto the island, your child should read each word and lay it on the island. Once all the words have been successfully read, you can celebrate that you have made it onto the island! Once you’ve read all the words put them into two piles for the words that rhyme.
Words to read to get onto the island: dip, tip, pip, lip, hip, but, hut, cut, nut
