Rabbit Class

Friday 22nd May

Good morning Rabbits. How are you all? I can’t believe it is half term next week! Time has really flown by. There is no new home learning for next week, I hope you enjoy your time at home and hopefully the weather is nice and warm for us. If it is nice you could do this scavenger hunt when you are out next week (link below). Or you could create your own! Please do continue to share your activities with me on Tapestry or the class email. I hope you have a fantastic week- can you believe it will be June the next time I speak to you!

From Miss O'Dwyer

Thursday 21st May

Good morning Rabbits. Isn’t it so lovely to have the sun shining! I can see lots of you have been out enjoying the warm weather, don’t forget your sun cream!

I checked on our runner beans at school yesterday, they have grown lots. I didn’t have time to take a picture or replant them- I will do that next time. I wonder how tall they will be when you next see them, will they be taller than you? I’m not sure!

I am putting a bank of outdoor activity ideas together and remembered one I did last year in a different school. Clay faces. They are so fun to make, once we created them we stuck them to trees. They really added character to the trees in the schools woodland area. Maybe this is something you could try at home today. You could make mud face creations to place on logs on the floor if you don’t have clay that would stick to trees.

I hope you have a lovely day.

Miss O’Dwyer

P.s Mrs Ambrose has asked us to share this fab idea with you all: Rob Biddulph (DrawwithRob) is aiming to go for a world drawing record at 4pm today - a record that you can help him set. Please visit this website if you want to take part: http://www.robbiddulph.com/draw-with-rob

Wednesday 20th May

Good morning my wonderful Rabbits. Look what has grown! I had forgotten about this picture, it was taken a few weeks ago. Do you remember when you planted beans? They have been busy growing. I am going into school today - I will check them again to see if they have grown, they definitely need replanting. Can you remember what plants need in order to grow? I know some of you will because you have been busy gardening with mums and dads. Today you could draw a picture of a plant, labelling its features. Please do share them with me on Tapestry or the class email. Have a great day Rabbits.

Tuesday 19th May

Good morning Rabbits! I hope you are all okay. I added some more pictures to our home learning gallery yesterday- they really made me smile. It is lovely to see you all so happy and safe at home, but I do miss you all so much.

I came across these pictures at the weekend; nature names!

When you go outside today you could collect materials to create your own nature name!

I hope you all have a fantastic day.

Monday 18th May

Good morning Rabbits. Did you all have a nice weekend? The weather was so lovely yesterday wasn’t it! I hope you were able to get outside and enjoy it. I enjoyed sitting in my garden reading a new book. I then spent the evenings completing the jigsaw puzzle, hooray! It feels satisfying to finish- although I do have a piece missing.sad I am sure it will turn up one day. I have uploaded a new week of our home learning, if you need any help or support please don’t hesitate to contact me via Tapestry or the class email, I check both daily.

Have a great day children. From Miss O’Dwyer.

Friday 15th May

Good morning Rabbits. I hope you all okay on this fabulous Friday. Thank you again for all of the wonderful work you have sent to me this week, it is lovely to see the activities you are enjoying.

As you can see below I have continued with my jigsaw puzzle, I am doing a little bit each day to make it last a while. Martha and Vinnie enjoy laying on the puzzle, but they jump if a piece gets stuck to their paws! I don’t think they have quite worked out what it is yet.  Do any of you have pets?  I know some of you do. Maybe you could share a picture with me. Do your pets join in with your activities too? If you don’t have a pet do you have a favourite animal? Can you draw a picture of it to show me. I really enjoy your pictures, we definitely have a lot of aspiring artists in Rabbit class.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Thursday 14th May

Good morning Rabbits. How are you all today? I hope you are all okay. When I was searching for the picture I would like to share with you today I came across a picture I meant to share with you a while ago. It is some tadpoles! Mrs Searle found them in the pond. Do any of you know what tadpoles eventually grow to be? I wonder if you could research this life cycle today. Your challenge is to draw a picture of the life cycle and to label each stage. I have attached the picture below, can you spot any tadpoles? I think I can see three, one at the top, one at the bottom and one on the left side of the container.

I hope you all have a fantastic day. From Miss O’Dwyer

Good morning Rabbits.

Today our morning message comes from you, the youngest members of our school family.

It is not too late to send us your photographs and drawings. This message can continue to grow each week so do continue to email us.

We are missing you all lots.

Have a lovely day.

Good morning Rabbits. I hope you are all okay. Thank you all for your pictures for our Hockham video. I am so excited for you to see it, Mrs Fowler has created another masterpiece! Please do continue to share your home learning with me via Tapestry or the class email.

Yesterday my father-in-law sent me some wonderful videos of otters! He discovered them when he was out for a walk. He said they were playing with each other for a long time, dipping in and out of the water. I wonder if they are friends or family, they could be brother and sister or even a mum and dad! What do you think? I have added one of the videos below for you to watch.

I hope you have a fantastic day Rabbits.

Monday 11th May

Good morning my wonderful Rabbits. How are you all today? My favourite thing to do in the morning is to check Tapestry and the class email to see the fantastic things you have been doing. I can see lots of you have been enjoying being in the garden, creating a piece of art and even helping with the cooking! I have also seen that some of you have learnt to ride your bikes. Wow- this can be a challenge so well done!

Reception children: my challenge to you this week is to complete a piece of writing to share with me. This could be anything you like! It could be sentence writing from your literacy work about The Amazing Adventures of Max, writing words with the daily phoneme in phonics, writing a sentence about something you have enjoyed whilst being at home, practising your words of the week or adding labels to your drawing. It is completely up to you.

Nursery children: your challenge is also writing! I would like you to practise writing your name and share it with me. This is something we would be working really hard at in class at the moment. Can you also draw me a picture of yourself. See what details you can add, you could use a mirror to help you.

Yesterday I finally started my jigsaw puzzle. Vinnie wanted to help me, as you can see below! He is a very silly cat.

Have a fantastic day.

Thursday 7th May

Good morning Rabbits

Thank you for your wonderful pictures for our Hockham video so far. Don't forget to get them to me by Monday 11th if you would like to be involved.

Tomorrow is VE day. I wonder if any of you know what this is? Maybe today or tomorrow you could investigate by talking to relatives or searching the internet. I have attached some VE day activities below. Have a look at the war time recipes too.

Banham zoo are also inviting you to show your artistic skills off. To help them continue to fund the money needed to care for their animals they have set an exciting competition that could win you a free trip for you and your class to the zoo. Plus every child in your class will get a t shirt with your artwork on. It costs £1 to enter and all you need to do is choose an animal on the entry form to colour, along with a border design of your choice. How wonderful would it be to have a free day at the zoo once we return to school! Good luck!

There is an attachment for the entry form below. Visit Banham Zoo's website for further details.

I hope you all have a lovely long weekend. Speak to you Monday.

Good morning Rabbits. How are you today? I hope you are having a good week so far! Have you sung our days of the week song today? My challenge for you is to learn the days of the week confidently before we get back to school.

It makes me so happy to see all of pictures you have sent either by email or Tapestry, you still seem to be doing lots of craft activities as well as your phonics and maths. It is wonderful! My Goddaughter Isla created some nature art bugs the other day! Look at some of the examples below. I wonder if you can make one.

Thank you so much for all of your lovely messages about the Somewhere Over the Rainbow video. We're glad you enjoyed watching it as much as we enjoyed making it for you, the amazing children in our school family.

If you would like to take part in a video here's what you need to do:

1. Do some fabulous art work of either rainbows, rabbits, owls, deer, hedgehogs or squirrels (no words please, just pictures).

2. Take a photo of you holding your art work, just like the adults have in our video.

Or if you don't want to be in the video, just take a photo of your art work.

3. Email or add your photos to Tapestry by Monday 11th May.

4. Make some popcorn and wait for the premiere to be announced!

Friday 1st May

Good morning everyone, how are you today? Isn't it so lovely to see the sun shining! It is the beginning of a new month today, May. Why don't you have a go at singing our days of the week and months of the year songs today. What number month is it now? How many months are in a year?

I have seen some of my friends children going out on colour nature hunts, they look so fun!

When you go out today or over the weekend for your 1 hours exercise, you could go on your own colour nature hunt! I hope you have a marvellous weekend, I am going to start my new jigsaw puzzle tomorrow. Lets hope the cats leave it alone this time! Speak to you Monday

From Miss O'Dwyer

Thursday 30th April

Good morning Rabbits, how are you? How do you all feel today? It is good to think and talk about how we feel. I feel happy this morning because the sun is shining again! I know Martha and Vinnie will be happy to see the sun shining again- they love to lay on the windowsills sunbathing.

Today I will be thinking about the activities I will suggest for you next week- there are so many fun craft activities on the internet. Please remember the activities I suggest aren't compulsory, they are just ideas.

I hope you have a fantastic day, Rabbits.

Wednesday 29th April

Good morning Rabbits. I hope you are all okay. Now that the weather has changed I am spending more time doing indoor activities I enjoy. I have been playing board games, reading books and I am about to start my next jigsaw puzzle. The last time I did a jigsaw my cats enjoyed playing with the puzzle pieces so much that they lost a piece! So I must be more careful this time. What indoor activities do you enjoy? I know lots of you love playing with play dough in our classroom, have you had a go making your own at home? Maybe you could have a try this week. I have attached a play dough recipe, although there are variations on the internet. You could stick to our topic of farming by creating your own farmyard out of play dough. I hope you have a great day.

Good morning Rabbits. Who can tell me what day of the week it is today? You could sing our days of the week song to help you! It is almost the end of April too, what month comes next?

I can see that so many of you have been busy with your craft activities. We have definitely got a lot of aspiring artists in Rabbit class! Today I wonder if you can create a nature rainbow. I have added an example below. Do any of you know a song to help you remember the colours of the rainbow? You could share it with me on Tapestry if you do!

I hope you have a fantastic day.

Monday 27th April

Good morning my wonderful Rabbits. How are you all? I hope you had a lovely weekend. I spent lots of time talking to my friends on the phone and planning my wedding! Did any of you speak to any of your friends or family this weekend? Maybe this week you could write a letter to someone. If you want to write a letter to somebody in our class, I can use Tapestry to show it to them.

When I was thinking of activities you could complete this week I found this great picture of shadow drawing!

Why don’t you have a try? (If the sun comes out..!) I wonder if it works, how do you think it would work? Does it matter where you place the toy and paper?

I miss you all so very much. I hope you all have a great day.

From Miss O’Dwyer.

Friday 24th April

Good morning Rabbits. How are you? As you can see above, I have added a Home Learning Gallery to our class page. I have received so many lovely pictures and videos from you all this week, I just wanted to say a big thank you. By having pictures on here, you can see activities your friends are doing that look fun, that you may want to try too. Please remember, there is no expectation for you to complete all of the activities I suggest, and I don't expect daily updates. Do what you can, when you can. I hope you all have a great weekend. Speak to you on Monday.

Good morning everyone, how are you all? I hope you are well and have been enjoying this wonderful weather. Yesterday, Bella told me her butterflies had grown and were ready to be set free! The butterflies were beautiful. Have you seen on our nature quest page (linked below), Mrs Garrod has added a butterfly template and identification page. When you go outside today, have a look for a butterfly that you can identify then draw. They have wonderful patterns on their wings. Are the patterns identical on each wing? Let me know!

Hello Rabbits. I hope you are all well! A couple of you have shown me your toilet roll competition creations! I love them. I really enjoyed Sarah's Troll creations. (check them out on the home learning gallery!) Please continue to share picture of your learning with me.

My goddaughter Isla has been having lots of fun at home too, she is 4 like some of you. The other day she and her brother sent a 'hug' to their nanny. I thought it was so fantastic i wanted to share it with you all, maybe you could make one to send to someone you miss. The pictures below show the steps to make it. If you don't have big pieces of paper, just sellotape small pieces together.

I hope you all have a good day. Please remember to check the suggested daily activities, follow the links above.

Harvey has been really enjoying chilling in his garden, he wants to know what you have all been doing? Have you been relaxing in the garden too? It was a bit too sunny for him, so he used sunglasses to protect his eyes. What do we use to protect ourselves from the sun, and why? See if you can find out for me. Thank you Rabbits.

Morning Rabbits!

How are you all? My mum has sent me these lovely pictures of our family dog, Harvey,  enjoying the sunshine in his garden. He loves to be in the garden playing with his favourite football, relaxing or being out on his daily walks. Have you been in your garden yet today? Please keep emailing or uploading pictures to Tapestry of the fun things you have been up to in your gardens. It is great to see what you have been up to.

When you go outside today, why don't you go on a minibeast hunt! You could draw pictures of the creatures you find. I wonder if there are any worms, snails or ladybirds in your garden? Remember to leave the minibeasts safe in their homes! Hope you all have a fantastic fun-filled day.

Hello Rabbits. How are you today? Thank you so much for adding onto Tapestry and emailing the things you have been up to so far, it is lovely to see you having so much fun. In the evenings I have been reading a lot. Some of my favourite books are travel books. Do you have a favourite book? Good Morning Rabbit class. How are you all today? As i write this message my cat Martha is next to me, soaking up the sunshine in her favourite place- the windowsill! She is also 'protecting' my Lego for me. Do you have any Lego at home? I wonder what you could make with it. Can you make my cat? She is brown and black, with little white paws. If you have your own pets can you make them? If you don't have Lego, what else could you use to create a pet? Playdough, junk modelling.. please upload your creations onto Tapestry. I can't wait to see them!

Morning Rabbits!

It is so lovely to see the sun shining again this morning. Have you been able to get out in the garden yet this week? Spring has sprung. Spring (and autumn) are my favourite seasons, not too hot and not too cold. Wonderful. My favourite thing about spring is the feeling of 'new'. New flowers blooming in the garden and new life. Lots of animals have their babies in the spring. Today, i wonder if you can find out the name of some baby animals; ducks, sheep, horse, pig and cow? Do you know any others? Can you spot anything new in your garden? There are daffodils in mine!

We are Rabbit Class!

Rabbit Class are our Nursery and Reception children at Great Hockham Primary and Nursery School. In Rabbit class children learn through play and purposeful activities, alongside daily Phonics and Maths sessions. A big part of the day is exploring and discovering through play opportunities inside and outside. At Great Hockham, we believe that the first years of schooling are critical to the rest of a child’s education. For this reason we provide a fun, safe, engaging environment for the children to learn through, in our topic based curriculum. In their time in Rabbit class, children work towards meeting the 17 Early Learning Goals through the 7 areas of learning, as outlined in the EYFS framework.
